Lionel Delpit was charged by bill of information with the crime of armed robbery in violation of La.R.S. 14:64. A plea of not guilty was entered at arraignment on May 1, 1975. When the matter was called for trial on November 6, 1975, Delpit sought to withdraw the plea of "not guilty" and enter a plea of "not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity," relying on documents which were received in evidence.
