Charles Long Soldier was convicted on Count I of a three count indictment following a jury trial in the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota. Count I charged that the defendant used a deadly weapon to assault Victor Provost, a Bureau of Indian Affairs employee, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 111 and § 1114. Counts II and III charged that the defendant assaulted Duane Yellow Hawk and William Jumping Eagle, respectively...
