Plaintiff Charles Gary brought this action seeking damages from defendant Federal Barge Lines, Inc., for injuries he received while working as a longshoreman upon a barge owned by defendant. A jury concluded that defendant's negligence was the cause of plaintiff's injuries, and assessed his damages in the amount of $8,000.00.
