JOHNSON, Justice:

The defendant, Sidney Collins, charged with burglary in violation of section 19-1 of the Criminal Code (Ill.Rev.Stat.1973, ch. 38, par. 19-1), was found guilty by a jury sitting in the circuit court of Cook County. Subsequently, he was sentenced to a term of 6 to 18 years in the Illinois State Penitentiary. This appeal followed.
