The subject of controversy on this appeal is the custody of a nine-year-old boy. The parties to the appeal were formerly husband and wife and the boy is an issue of that marriage.

On October 19, 1972, the wife, appellee herein, obtained in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia an absolute divorce from appellant on the ground of voluntary separation. In that proceeding appellee sought also the custody of the child.
