The defendants Nicholson and Mitchell (defendants) together with one King,2 were convicted of rape, armed robbery, armed assault in a dwelling, and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon after a joint trial pursuant to G.L.c. 278, §§ 33A-33G.
