The defendant, a Minnesota resident, was staying with friends at 1725 John avenue in the city of Superior, Douglas county, Wisconsin. The building at this address is a four-unit apartment complex. Defendant was staying with people who lived on the second floor. Willard J. Perry had an apartment on the first floor and, in addition to his usual employment, operated a small gun shop at this address.
