Defendant Timothy Branson, a Minneapolis police officer, was driving an unmarked police car in pursuit of an automobile driven by defendant John Marshall Hillerns when the two vehicles collided. Plaintiff Phillip Van Tassel, a Minneapolis police officer and passenger in the police vehicle, was injured and brought suit for his personal injuries, alleging negligence against defendants Branson and Hillerns.1 The court directed...
