POMEROY, Justice.

In Maine, by statute (18 M.R.S.A. § 2402), no claim may be maintained against an executor or administrator of an estate unless the claim is "presented to the executor or administrator in writing or filed in the registry of probate" within six months of the qualification of the executor or administrator.1
