Plaintiff commenced this diversity action against defendant, Pittston Stevedoring Corporation ("Pittston"), a stevedore, to recover damages for its alleged negligent handling of a knitting machine prior to its delivery aboard a vessel for shipment to plaintiff's customer in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
