Defendant, 20 years old at the time of the commission of the crime, was convicted of first degree murder. (Pen. Code, § 187.) No "special circumstances" which, if found true, would have made the death penalty mandatory, were charged. (Pen. Code, § 190.1-190.2.) Trial was to the court.
