This is an action for damages for medical malpractice for failure to diagnose and treat a congenital condition known as hypothyroidism in a 10-month-old baby, with the result that her mental development was retarded. The case was tried before a jury, which returned a verdict of $500,000 against defendant Bussman, who appeals from the resulting judgment. The jury also returned a verdict in favor of another doctor, who had been joined as a defendant...
