A dozen women during a period of some eight months in 1972 and 1973 were abducted into a green Chevrolet Vega or similar car and subsequently raped by one or more men. These brutal crimes became known as the "Green Vega" rape cases and ultimately resulted in the late night arrest of appellant Davis.
