Defendant was convicted by a jury of delivery of heroin. MCLA 335.341(1)(a); MSA 18.1070(41)(1)(a). He received a sentence of three years probation, the last six months to be spent in the county jail. Defendant appeals as of right.

At both the preliminary examination and the trial the prosecution's principal witness was the state police undercover narcotics officer who purchased the heroin from the defendant. The substance of the officer...
