Calvin Griffin, Robert Russell, and Larry Carr were charged in a one-count indictment with knowingly possessing mail which had been stolen, taken, or abstracted from and out of the mail in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1708.1 The three men waived their right to a trial by jury and were tried separately. Russell and Griffin were found guilty and Carr was acquitted...
