A headline in the April 27, 1967, edition of The Woonsocket Call proclaimed: "State To Build Road Bypassing Main Street." The story told the reader that the "* * * bypass road would be constructed through the reclaimed pond area from Bernon Street to Clinton Street" and that there would be some condemnation of land. Today a motorist approaching the downtown section of the city of Woonsocket can observe roadside signs that point...
