Appellant was indicted for murder in the first degree. He was convicted of murder in the second degree and the jury fixed his punishment at twenty years in the penitentiary. At arraignment and throughout the trial proceedings, he was represented by retained counsel. He interposed a plea of not guilty. After being sentenced he gave notice of appeal and requested that the sentence be suspended pending appeal...
