This action is another among an increasingly growing number of school suspension suits in federal courts today. The suit has been brought by Paula Kirtley by her parents and next friends, Paul and Joice Kirtley. Ms. Kirtley was an eighth grader at William Monroe High School last spring when she was dismissed for accumulating ten demerits pursuant to the school's demerit system.
