After trial by jury, Raymond Boutin was tried and convicted in the District Court of Vermont, Unit No. 4, Essex Circuit, under an unartfully drawn officer's complaint, charging simple assault in violation of 13 V.S.A. § 1023(a)(1) in that he did then and there attempt to cause bodily injury to another.
