The unfortunate chain of events culminating in this appeal commenced on May 15, 1972, when appellant, Anna M. Raitt (the patient), underwent a laparoscopy tubal ligation, a birth control procedure performed by appellee Montague (the physician) at the Johns Hopkins Hospital (the hospital).
