The plaintiff, Guillermo Aillon, was found guilty of three counts of murder after a jury trial. In November of 1973, the plaintiff learned from certain newspaper articles that the judge who presided at his trial had engaged in an ex parte conversation with a juror after the case had been submitted to the jury. The plaintiff thereupon filed a petition for a new trial pursuant to § 52-270 of the General Statutes. After a hearing on that petition,...
