Defendant's sole assignment of error is the trial court's denial of his motion for a directed verdict. When by such motion a defendant challenges the sufficiency of circumstantial evidence to go to the jury, the trial court must determine whether a reasonable inference of defendant's guilt may be drawn from the circumstances. State v. Spencer, 281 N.C. 121,
