The defendant, Robert J. Thomas, appeals from a conviction for being in actual physical control of a vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor in violation of the Illinois Vehicle Code. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1973, ch. 95 1/2, § 11-501(a).) He was tried without jury, fined $100 plus costs and ordered to surrender his driver's license under a mandatory revocation provision...
