The petitioner, Richard Beasley, was extradited from New York, where he was serving a 15-year sentence for forgery, tried in the Circuit Court of Cook County on three charges of armed robbery, and was sentenced to three concurrent terms of 8 to 12 years. The Illinois trial judge specifically ordered that those terms were to be served concurrently with the sentence previously...
