Appellant was convicted of murder; punishment was assessed at ten years.

In grounds of error four through nine, appellant contends the trial court committed error in allowing the State to go into his character and reputation for being peaceful and law abiding when it had not been placed in issue and for allowing the State to ask numerous "have you heard" questions of the witness Edith Stribling, the mother of the deceased.
