The defendant, Charles McDonald, was tried and found guilty of burglary (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1969, ch. 38, par. 19-1) and not guilty of attempted murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1969, ch. 38, par. 9-1) after a jury trial in the circuit court of Du Page County and was sentenced to the penitentiary for a term of not less than 20 years nor more than 35 years...
