DOYLE, Justice.

The defendant, Roland R. (Ronnie) McBride, was convicted by a jury of forgery in the third degree. He was sentenced to serve 18 months in the South Dakota State Penitentiary, which sentence was suspended.

On January 23, 1973, a gas station attendant in Chamberlain, South Dakota, cashed a forged check in the amount of $30 for a person he later identified as defendant Roland McBride. The attendant was alone in the station at the time, and he...
