Calvin Butler, William "Billy" Mitchell, and James Alexander Robinson were indicted for the armed robbery of Mrs. James Carr. Butler and Robinson were separately tried, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. William "Billy" Mitchell also was indicted for the murder of Christopher Carr which occurred during the armed robbery. Mitchell pled guilty and was sentenced to death.
