This was an action by appellants, Danny and Azzlee Martinez, against appellees, Harold and Dorothy Cardwell and the State of Arizona, for slander. Appellees moved for summary judgment in the trial court on the ground that the defamatory statements uttered by appellee Harold Cardwell (hereinafter referred to as "Cardwell") were absolutely privileged.
