When 13-year-old Vester Lee Tatum was in the seventh grade he began an association with Lois McCalester, age 12, which two years later resulted in the illegitimate birth of Tonia Lynn McCalester. From her birth on March 10, 1973, Tonia has been under the care of Hillcrest Services to Children and Youth, a state-licensed child-placing agency.
