This is a maritime "slip'n fall" case arising under the provisions of the 1972 Amendments to the Longshoremen's and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, 33 U.S.C.A. § 905(b) (Pocket Pt. 1974). The plaintiff, a longshoreman, was injured when he slipped and fell off a ladder leading into the No. 4 hatch on the defendant's ship, the S.S. SANTA CLARA. The jury returned a special verdict...
