OPINION

I. THE CLAIM.

Plaintiff Edgar D. Coffin seeks to assert a class-action challenge to the constitutionality of two sections of the Social Security Act.1 Specifically plaintiff attacks those portions of the Act which provide for the payment of "husband's insurance benefits"2 and "widower's insurance benefits."3
