In order to widen Louisiana Highway No. 167 from an existing two-lane road to a four-lane thoroughfare, the State of Louisiana, through Department of Highways, acting under the authority granted it by Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:441 et seq., expropriated a strip of land approximately eleven feet deep across the front of defendant's property which is located on the west side of the highway and on which is situated a church building.
