On November 30, 1971, Augusta Robert Haynes was involved in an accident with his automobile at the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 21 in Washington County, Missouri. The accident was investigated by Trooper R. A. Mallery who made a report and issued a traffic violation ticket to Mr. Haynes for "failure to yield the right of way to approaching vehicle" which was subsequently dismissed...
