These are joint appeals in two consolidated public school cases from orders of the District Court1 of December 6, 1973 and July 31, 1974.2 The actions were brought by the parents and next friends on behalf of students who had been expelled from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System and the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.
