Appellee Simpson was arrested in his apartment, and later charged by two informations with assault, D.C. Code 1973, § 22-504, possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to use it unlawfully against another, D.C. Code 1973, § 22-3214(b), and failure to register a firearm and ammunition in violation of the relevant police regulations. He filed a motion to suppress the gun as evidence.
