Defendant, Stanley Davis, was charged with the murder of Derrick Merriweather and the attempt murder of Howard Collins. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1971, ch. 38, pars. 9-1, 8-4.) A jury found him guilty of both offenses, and he was sentenced to consecutive terms of 35 to 100 years for murder and 10 to 15 years for attempt murder. On appeal defendant...
