Prior to his first trial Angiulo moved for transfer of venue on the ground that prejudicial publicity had made it impossible for him to obtain a fair trial "in and about the District of Massachusetts". His motion was denied. He was subsequently tried and convicted for assaulting a federal officer, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 111.
