Gene Pierre Hopkins was indicted by the grand jury for Montgomery County on charges of murder, assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to maim, assault and battery, assault and carrying a dangerous weapon. The indictment grew out of a racially based escapade by three young white men who, for a "lark", decided on the night of August 18, 1972 to "raise a little hell...
