On November 11, 1970, plaintiff Betty McKinstrie was operated on at Henry Ford Hospital. During the operation she received two units of blood, which was supplied to the hospital by defendant Midwest Blood Service, Inc. Mrs. McKinstrie was released, but readmitted on January 1, 1971 with serum hepatitis. Plaintiffs then brought this action claiming that serum hepatitis is a disease which comes from blood and that the blood transfusion given by defendant...
