This expropriation proceeding was instituted by the City of New Orleans for the purpose of acquiring property necessary for the expansion of an existing park. The City initially offered the sum of $14,420, thereafter increased to $21,000, and defendants answered, claiming a valuation of $44,800. Following trial judgment was rendered expropriating the property and adjudging it to the City of New Orleans in full ownership upon the payment by the City...
