This is a proceeding upon a petition for a writ of habeas corpus filed pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2241 et seq., wherein the petitioner seeks to vacate a conviction and sentence in a case entitled "State of Tennessee v. Ernest E. Ray," Docket No. 11,945 in the Criminal Court for Hamilton County, Tennessee. In that case the petitioner was tried before a jury upon July 23, 1970, and found guilty of first degree murder...
