The defendant, John E. Thompson, was charged by indictment with the offense of armed robbery. The case was tried in the St. Clair County Circuit Court to a jury which returned a verdict of guilty to the charge of armed robbery. The defendant was sentenced to a term of from 2 to 10 years in the Illinois State penitentiary...
