Defendant, Arthur Williams, Jr., was charged by bill of information with simple kidnapping, a violation of R.S. 14:45, and was convicted after a trial by jury. Defendant was sentenced to pay a fine of $2,000.00, in default of which he would be imprisoned in the parish jail for six months, and to serve five years at hard labor, with credit for time served to be given on the five year portion of the sentence.
