The defendant, Perry Gillery, pleaded guilty on January 6, 1972, to a violation of the Illinois Securities Law (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1971, ch. 121 1/2, par. 137.12F), and was sentenced to a term of 2 1/2-3 years in prison. No direct appeal was taken from the conviction.
