The defendant, Lester Burson, was charged, along with Robert Phillips, with the theft of an electric adding machine valued at less than $150, in violation of section 16-1 of the Criminal Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1971, ch. 38, par. 16-1). Robert Phillips pleaded guilty to the charge. The defendant pleaded not guilty, and after a bench trial, was found guilty. He was sentenced to serve six...
