The plaintiff Dale Thorp was injured on December 5, 1967 at his place of employment while replacing a repaired tire on a wheel rim at which time the tire exploded, almost severing his right hand. The tire in question was manufactured by the defendant Dayton Tire and Rubber Co., a subsidiary of the defendant The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company.
