The plaintiffs have appealed from the judgment rendered by a state referee denying their request for a writ of mandamus to compel the defendants, the mayor and the director of finance of the city of Milford, to furnish the plaintiffs certain financial data which they claimed to be necessary to enable them to discharge their duties as members of the board of finance of the city of Milford.1
