The petitioner, Raymond L.S. Patriarca, was tried before a judge and jury in the Superior Court on three indictments. One charged him with conspiracy to murder, and two with being an accessory to a murder. The jury returned a guilty verdict on the conspiracy charge, but failed to agree on the accessory charges.
