This is a libel suit. A jury awarded the plaintiff $35,000.00 compensatory damages and $75,000.00 punitive damages. The defendants contend that their motion for summary judgment should have been granted because there was no basis for a claim of libel, a position repeated in their motions at and after trial for a directed verdict and judgment notwithstanding the verdict.
